Define the role before you search

Applying to everything produces a generic resume and no learning. Write your target in four fields: role family, seniority, industry, geography. Then list twenty employers who plausibly hire that combination — contractors, EPCs, operators, OEMs and service companies.

That list is your search surface. Job boards become a monitoring tool for it, rather than a random feed you scroll.

Key points

Define role family, seniority, industry, geography; build a twenty-employer list; boards monitor your list.
