Curriculum map and how to prepare now

This course is published as a curriculum architecture. The module map is final and lesson content is in production, so you can plan your learning path today without guessing what will be covered.

Planned modules: 1. S7 hardware family — S7-1200, S7-1500, distributed ET 200 I/O and typical panel layouts. 2. TIA Portal environment — project tree, device configuration, hardware catalogue, compile and download workflow. 3. Program blocks — OB, FC, FB and DB, and why Siemens separates functions from function blocks with instance data. 4. Tags and data types — PLC tag tables, symbolic addressing, optimised versus standard block access. 5. Programming languages — LAD, FBD and SCL, and when each is the right choice. 6. Communications — PROFINET and PROFIBUS configuration and diagnostics. 7. HMI with WinCC — screens, tag connections and alarm configuration. 8. Diagnostics — the diagnostic buffer, online monitoring, watch tables and forcing.

Until these lessons publish, the strongest preparation is PLC Fundamentals in this Academy. Scan cycle, I/O, scaling, interlocks and sequence design transfer directly to Siemens platforms — only the tooling changes.

Key points

Module map final, lessons in production; eight planned modules from hardware to diagnostics; complete PLC Fundamentals first as the transferable base.
